Full Concept

PAUSE  (a reflection on disarray) is the first dual exhibition by Wasinburee Supanichvoraparch and Udom Udomsrianan. Both artists raise the question of human behavior and how we react to circumstance.

Every conscious moment, we face actions and situations beyond our control. What’s important is how we choose to react toward these outer forces and influences, that later come to define us.

Wasinburee Supanichvoraparch’s photographic series, Mud (2010-present), a 7-year ongoing photography project, will be shown to the public for the first time. This series represents the instant of the encounter. The subjects in the photographs knew they were going to be splashed with clay, but the question was when. The artist, forewarned, captures the strike, freezing the encounter and the reaction. The shutter signifying the exact moment when we are hit by the situation, good or bad, composed or ignorant.

Udom Udomsrianan’s work is a reciprocal view, revealing insights about the receiver. His method demonstrates an individual approach toward the constant chaos of life. Through experience, the artist recognizes the essentiality of pausing to ruminate, to gain a better understanding of his surroundings – a comprehension that is reflected back in the simplicity of a natural form. It is a form that represents a moment of peace and happiness and, consequently, inspires greater creation and imagination.

Exclusively for this show, both artists will create their first collaboration piece. The rhythm of life is an alteration between charging forward and stopping to contemplate. This exhibition will give viewers an insight into Supanichvoraparch and Udomsrianan’s artistic approach in dealing with adversity and will challenge us to reflect on our own perspectives.
