Lucid Dreams

In this exhibition, we have created a world of wonder and happiness, where children can play and animals are sheltered and looked after. It’s a place full of color, lucid dreams, where everyone is free to create his or her own story and destiny.  Stepping into a moment and time of hope and aspiration, dream and imagination, from artistic works to innocent children’s drawings, and from installations and large pig sculptures to a dog planet.

The five selected artists in this exhibition have been working with charities and social issues on a regular basis. For them, art is life and life involves kindness and compassion. To make art for the benefit of others has been part of their achievements and inspiration. Work in this exhibition involves collaboration and openness through creativity and understanding.

What if you had the chance to create your own dreams, with no limitations and open to all imagination?

Every day we wake up to the harsh uncertainty of reality, to a life that often doesn’t give us many choices or options. There are times when we wish that we could continue to live in a dream, so carefree, full of joy and beauty, free from any nonsense and negativity.

A percentage from sales will go to charities listed below. The gallery will hold a charity day and activities, with the schedule to be announced.

Dogs Cancer

Dogs Cancer is a shelter for stray dogs and cats. It is a nonprofit organization. My name is Kingwarapon Salapratheep and I started Dogs Cancer shelter in 2016.

I would drive in my car around Thailand and see all sorts of injured and sick dogs and cats. Each time it broke my heart so I took action and started rescuing them. I wanted to save sick and injured animals. Stray dogs and cats in Thailand are disadvantaged creatures. If nobody helps them, they get sick and injured and die alone, often in great pain.

Cancer is very common among dogs and cats in Thailand. And so are injuries caused by hit-and-runs by cars or even by people’s abuse. These animals need help and love. At Dogs Cancer we take care of them every day with veterinarians and a full-time staff. Since we started, we rescued more than one thousand animals. Some of them we couldn’t save from sickness and injuries but many lived on to enjoy a life they would have otherwise lost. I hope you’ll come visit to see what we do every day and to meet our “guests”

Chivasilp, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Khon Kaen University.

Chivasilp has a mission to provide social services by using art as a tool. We have continued to run art and creative projects, since 2010, for the mental well-being of patients at the Srinagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. This operation is joined by various volunteer groups including students and faculties of Khon Kaen University, other volunteer groups in Khon Kaen Province, and various groups in Thailand and abroad.

The main activities are theatrical performances with paediatric patients taking part in the shows, storytelling in front of the saline, music healing activities, and play therapy. These activities are joined by weekly volunteers, ranging from students and staff in Khon Kaen University, and others who express an interest. These volunteer groups include well-known people and international artists.

In collaboration with the volunteers at the Chivasilp, Mr Pairoj Pichetmetakul, an independent artist, became a volunteer and helps organize an artistic programme for the paediatric patients at the Paediatric Intensive Care Center, Srinagarind Hospital.

This project became the inspiration for this event and child patients were artistically involved in the works in this exhibition.

Baan Rai Lung M

“Baan Rai Lung M was started when I was planning to move out of Bangkok, looking for a place to build a house, an art studio, and a place for pets. At that time, I had already adopted a pig (a wild three-legged pig) and a goat.

During that period, I also helped find a place for abandoned cats and dogs. Those that no one adopted, ended up living with me. It’s not like I go asking for the animals, many of them were left in front of my house. As for the pig, I helped him when he got caught by a trap and lost one leg. With nowhere for him to go, I decided to take him in.

Now at Baan Rai Lung M, we have dogs, cats, goats, pigs and chickens. We even have rats here since we do not kill animals. So rats and farm rats, snakes, frogs, insects, geckos and bats are all regular residences. Within our 2 Rai, there are 2 staffs that help look after these animals, who love and treat them as their kids. At the moment, we have about 50-60 animals living here and at a place in Bangkok. This means that every month we have to pay for food, staff, bills and medical bills. All the money I am trying to find comes through selling artwork and playing music.”
